Vote

There is a strong temptation to list the latest discoveries of malfeasance, to talk about Haggard being outed; to decry Cheney's declaration that he won't respond to a Congressional subpoena should one be issued; to speculate about whether the Hussein verdict was timed to aid the GOP in the midterm elections; to express horror at the discovery that the administration has posted instructions, with graphics and diagrams and in Arabic, on how to build a nuclear bomb on the internet; to remind you that the electronic machines have already been "vote flipping".

However, I don't have to do that. If you are reading this, you know these things already. I don't have a readership of either conservatives or the politically naive. You know what has been happening. You care about it.

So, what I'm going to do instead is say, tomorrow is election day. It is probably the most important election we have ever held, because it could be the last chance we have to rein in Bush and his croney capitalism pals.

Vote. Vote with the clearest mind you have ever taken to the polls. Vote for the good guys. And, if you don't know for sure who the good guys are, take today to find out.

Mailed my absentee ballot on Friday.

Here in California, we're crazy for ballot propositions. The one I'm most interested in defeating is 85, which would require parental notification (and some time delays) before a teenage girl could obtain an abortion. Bad, bad idea.

Our local elections are pretty much shoo ins, so it's hard to get excited about voting. But of course, I will go and do so, and hope hope hope for the best elections nationwide.

From my little corner of the world here in Canada, I am hoping along with you that tomorrow brings some change for the good.

I'm actually getting nervous with the thought this thing is going to be hijacked in states where the elections are close.

Oregon votes by mail; so mine went in a week ago. I just hope for the best but we will have to go on and make the best of it for our own lives whatever happens. Frustrating times.

I will be out early to get my vote cast. Thanks for the thoughtful blog and I pray that the majority will finally see what a sham this last 6 years has been.

yes, yes, even here in the big apple, we worry--though not much up for grabs. always get nervous, after all the times i've stood in the booth, but i think that's a good thing. voting is such a privilege.

You are right and I will be at the election booth as soon as I can tomorrow. Santorum has to go. He is one of the biggest bush supporters there is and I want him out.

Absolutely! Here's hoping either sanity or disillusionment carry the day.

My mother just emailed me to say that Grandpa is in a coma but she is voting first thing tomorrow and then flying out to California.

Maya, I always feel I'm "preaching to the choir" when I talk politics in my blog. I'm not going to stop, however. There is always the chance that one undecided person might stumble upon my blog, and that something I say might be sane enough to capture his/her vote. Then, it'll be worth it.
