So, by Monday we had received some 60 inches of snow, much of which was still piled high on the sides of the roads. The plows and dump trucks had been busy 24 hours a day for days and days. Because the snow kept coming back, they had been unable to plow to the gutters on either of the streets leading up the hill to my apartment and we had no heating fuel on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday they finally got that taken care of, and warmth returned to my place.
At which point, it started raining. It has rained ever since, practically non-stop. Hardly any snow left anywhere in town. Just little patches here and there. The temperatures have been in the high 40s.
Such is life in Juneau, Alaska.

Nature is a very strange thing. It is colder here in North Carolina this AM than it was in Juneau, when you wrote your post.
As Mark Twain said, "If you don't like the weather, just wait a moment."
We're expecting rain here. I wonder if the little amount of snow that we have will disappear.
I'm glad, though, that the snow is gone, so you don't have to trudge through it...
We rarely get much snow in western oregon but when we do, melting fast and flooding is the frequent result. Does the kind of snowfall you described lead to flooding in Juneau?
We have a light dusting of the white stuff left in our back yard, but rain is on the way, so don't think we will have a white Christmas. Sigh!
SoCal is starting to see rain, finally. A pretty good rain last night, and a drizzle tonight.
I think 60 inches of snow here would freak most SoCal people out of their minds, though.
