Local Weather

I thought you might like to see a couple of pictures from Tuesday's newspaper of the local snowfall.

Larry Buzzell points out the size of the snow berm Monday in front of his Riverside Drive home. Some Riverside Drive residents say they are tired of the city leaving giant berms of snow in the street blocking their driveways.

Kevin Nye clears snow Monday under the watchful eye of a bronze brown bear sculpture in front of the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery. Juneau received about 7 inches of snow in 24 hours, and a heavy snow warning was issued for Monday night

What's a 'bonze brown bear'? ;)

That's a lot of snow. I'm glad you don't have to go out in it for a few days!

A bronze brown bear is a bronze statue of a brown bear.

Wow. You've got the snow, we've got the cold. And I'd rather meet a bronze brown bear than a brown bear anyday!

I was kidding, because there was a typo...'bonze', instead of 'bronze'. ;)

Did all that snow have much impact on voting?

Oh, I get it. Touche! Shows you how closely I was reading. The jokes on MEEEEEEEE! But I'd still rather meet that bronze or bonze bear. Did either of you ever see one while you lived here? Brown bear, that is.

J,
You're right. The blogger spell checker isn't working at the moment. I'm spell checking in WordPerfect, but I didn't think to put the part I had copied and pasted the text directly from the on-line edition of the Empire.

I guess it doesn't bother you to have it there as bonze, either, because it's still there...
